RAKU COLLECTION
Raku pottery is formed using an ancient Japanese firing technique in which the pots are rapidly heated and cooled. Red-hot pots are lifted from the kiln from the hour-long firing process then placed in combustible material to blacken the exposed clay and enhance the decorative crackle pattern of the glaze. Raku vessels are not recommended for liquids or sauces, but can be used to serve chips and snacks or display dried flowers. Raku vessels will hold water, but some liquid may seep through the unglazed base. If you choose to use a raku vessel to hold fresh flowers, it's advisable to place a protective dish under the pot. Glaze colors are predominately chartreuse or red -- with some variation between crackle patterns and color intensity since each firing produces one-of-a-kind results.

STONEWARE COLLECTION
Pottery in the Stoneware Collection has been formed with a mid-fire stoneware clay body and fired to 2220 degrees. Stoneware pieces are highly durable and waterproof. All potteryware from this collection are food and liquid safe and can be used in microwave ovens and dishwashers. Several pieces from this collection are hand-carved and each features hand-formulated glazes including: Chamiso, a light-speckled matte green glaze with the look of a bronze patina; Maya, a deep blue-green satin-matte glaze trailed with light blue designs. Opal, a light purple gloss glaze with subtle flow patterns against a weave-carved texture. Blue Flax, a cream color satin-matte glaze with a light blue tint. No lead or barium is used in the formulation of these glazes.

WOOD-FIRED COLLECTION
The Wood-Fired Collection is the result of a labor-intensive firing technique that produces pieces with a unique natural ash glaze. Hundreds of pots are fired simultaneously in a traditional anagama kiln built into a hillside. The kiln is tended 24-hours-a day throughout a 4-5 day firing period. As wood is continually fed into the kiln, the fly ash settles on the pieces and eventually melts to form a one-of-a-kind natural glaze on the outside of the pots. All wood-fired pieces are safe for use as food and beverage vessels and are microwave and dishwasher safe.
